About Geri & Pattern Wiz
Hi, I’m Geri 👋🏻 the creator behind Pattern Wiz.
For as long as I can remember, sewing and making clothes has been a way for me to express myself, connect with creativity, and find a sense of calm. My passion for sewing began as a child sitting on the sofa doing cross-stitch with my mum—a memory that still makes me smile and reminds me why I love working with my hands :)
I took that passion further by studying Fashion Design at Nottingham Trent University. Midway through my studies, I discovered my love for pattern cutting and knew it would become my craft. After graduating, I dived headfirst into the fashion industry, working for luxury brands like Victoria Beckham, The Vampire’s Wife, and Halpern, and even took my skills abroad to FFIXXED STUDIOS in China.
I now predominately freelance in bridal & bespokeat The OWN Studio, which I love as feel there is something so special about making something for someone specific. It also aligns much greater with my values, making something unique and individual vs being apart of the fashion-over-consumption-wheel!
Along with that, over the past 13 years, I’ve refined my pattern-cutting skills and discovered my unique teaching approach, which blends practical knowledge with creative empowerment. I’ve also witnessed the gaps in learning that many creatives face when transitioning from graduation to industry. That’s why I founded Pattern Wiz—to make pattern cutting accessible, simple, and enjoyable for everyone, whether you’re a complete beginner or someone ready to deepen your expertise.
